This is the most popular daytrip from Reykjavik
We start by visiting Hveragerdi town, a low temperature geothermal area, with hundreds of hotsprings. We stop for refreshments and earthquake memorial site in a little mall and bakery. From there we go to Skalholt bishopric, the ancient seat of the Icelandic bishops where we visit a memorial cathedral and very important historical site in Iceland,
We continue to the beautiful but small waterfall Faxi, in river Tungufljot
Our lunch break is at Geysir restaurants. At the geysers is the longest stop. The stupefying geyser ,Strokkur spouting every 5..6..7.. minutes
From there we journey to the big, big waterfall Gullfoss and stay there for a while.
After leaving Gullfoss and Geysir we take a different road towards Thingvellir, our last major stop of the day. We go to the Thingvellir National Park, where the Icelandic parliament Althingi was founded in the year 930 AD. Thingvellir is geologically remarkable and the tectonic plate boundaries form a breathtaking scenery.
